How To Get Involved
Anyone who has a desire to inspire children and young people in STEM subjects can become a STEM Ambassador. The main qualities that all Ambassadors share are enthusiasm and commitment, along with a passion for what they do.
Ambassadors are of all ages and backgrounds and represent over 1,000 different employers. They get involved in a number of diverse and innovative projects including delivering activities such as Science & Engineering clubs, helping with school competitions, events and awards, offering mentoring and career talks, acting as a role model to young learners and providing work-based placements for teachers and students.
Benefits to Ambassadors
Becoming an Ambassador includes opportunities:
-
To gain a fresh perspective on day-to-day work when seen through the eyes of students
-
To enjoy a sense of achievement after delivering an activity
-
To help make a difference in the local community
-
To reach a better understanding of the education system and the needs of young people
-
To strengthen communication, planning and presentation skills
-
To have lots of fun!
The power to inspire
As someone involved in STEM delivery, you have the power to fire young people's imaginations, helping them on the journey to successful STEM-based careers.
The Cheshire & Warrington STEM Development Office was set up to offer help and support through networking opportunities, motivation and a wealth of resources. By working together to share novel ideas and make education accessible and enjoyable, we can make sure Cheshire & Warrington improves GCES results in STEM subjects and becomes a more prosperous region for all.
Diversity
STEM careers can take you to a wide range of roles and industries. STEMPoint Cheshire and Warrington are always looking for ambassadors that can demonstrate this diversity. New ambassadors are very keen to get involved with schools and feel that it is so important to encourage young people to realise the importance that STEM has in all walks of life and that there are few if any careers where STEM does not have a part to play.
